Advent Poem Day 16
There needs to be hope in the hopeless,
There needs to be joy in the joyless,
just as there is rain for the land in drought;
When it comes it
Brings a flood across the plain,
A deluge like the first parting
Of earth and water,
Of dirt and puddles,
Of Adam and his baptism—
One is coming who will give gifts
To the giftless,
And we are unfit
To untie his sandals,
Yet we are his brothers and sisters.
