Lenten Prayer for the Holy Spirit’s Presence
I wrote poems each day during Advent. I decided, with encouragement from some people at The Plant, to begin reading prayers I write during communion on Sunday instead of the prayers of the saints and ones from prayer books. We focused on the Holy Spirit last week, so this prayer is a meditation on the Holy Spirit’s presence.
O Lord, your food was to do the will of the Father, and so we ask you feed us with food that never lets our souls be hungry again: the Word, which is Christ.
Flood our hearts, minds, souls and our community with the divine light of Christ, the bright morning star.
May your Spirit descend upon us as it did at Christ’s baptism, that we may be filled with the call to bring the kingdom of God to all the earth.
With wisdom, gifts, and revelation we pray your Spirit fill us, that we may live to further your new and coming kingdom, our inheritance, proclaimed by the body and blood of your resurrection.
It is no longer ourselves who live, but Christ living in us, by the power of the Holy Spirit and the unity of God the Father. Amen.
I welcome any use of the poems, prayers, and posts I write but just remember that it’s my content and you should mention my name and website. Thanks!
