The Big Launch

Welcome to Everyday Liturgy 3.0!  Change has to happen sometime, and after two years on the old site several factors came into making the change.

First, the Everyday Journal is no more, R.I.P.  It served its purpose, and I am happy with what happened in that year and a half.  And besides, GENERATE is just so much cooler.  If you wax nostalgic one day and want to look through old issues of the Journal you can go to the archives page.  They are all there, collecting digital dust, waiting for someone to page through them every now and again.

Is Everyday Liturgy 3.0 permanent?  Yes and no.  It will be permanently on WordPress, that’s for sure.  Josh Benner, Everyday Liturgy’s loyal web guru, problem solver, and Drupal wizard, is going to be entering fatherhood soon, and coupled with his increased workload it seemed better to move from a multimedia site on Drupal to a blogging site on WordPress.  I also know WordPress, so I am able to make changes on the site, and won’t have to hound Benner any more to volunteer his services (but like any true coder, I think he enjoys working on websites whether he gets paid or not).

Then comes the not so permanent part: this site is more of an interim model, set up to feature three posts a week, which is about all I can hope to accomplish at this point.  With a full time job, my duties as a full time professor, church life, graphic design hobbies, and my wife and I’s increased efforts to spend more time in leisure and relaxing my posting has been waning from it’s five posts a week heyday.  I hope to get back into five posts a week at some point later in the year, but the current set up and aesthetic of the site meets my current blogging needs and your astute aesthetic tastes!  But eventually, I will be tweaking the site’s look and layout when the timing is right.  So no, there will not be an Everyday Liturgy 4.0 in the near future, but there will be a 3.1 in the next couple of months.

Happy browsing!  And if anyone finds a bug, glitch, error or “that’s odd” sort-of-thing please let me know. Thanks.
