The Power of Forgiveness
I was really touched by the story on Story Corps this morning. Every week Story Corps features a different story that is told into random booths across the country and then archived as Americana at the Library of Congress. This week a father tells about how he came to forgive the man who killed his 43 year-old daughter in a botched robbery. The man’s emotions tremble through his telling, but the anger simmers into forgiveness that is as unbelievable as it is wonderful.
Forgiveness comes only through hurt and emptiness—and that is what we should all be feeling during this Lenten season, the magestic notion that our emptiness (of stomach or significant thing) is turned into forgiveness.
Just keep hoping!
